When Karim Ansarifard put Cypriot outfit Omonia Nicosia 1-0 up against Manchester United on Thursday night, there was, for a brief period, a fear that the Reds were on course for one of the most embarrassing defeats in the club's history, just four days after shipping six goals in the Manchester derby.

Erik ten Hag's men didn't manage to level proceedings before the half-time break, but it didn't take them long to do so in the second period, with Marcus Rashford converting from range in the 53rd minute.

Anthony Martial settled everyone's nerves when he put the away side 2-1 up shortly after, with Rashford grabbing his third of the game in the 84th minute.

Despite Omonia making it 3-2 with five minutes remaining, the Reds were able to hang on and secure a much-needed victory, although the manner in which they did so was concerning for many.
