Grimsby Town have announced their eighth signing of the summer as 29-year-old winger Brendan Kiernan joins from fellow League Two outfit Walsall on loan until January.

The former Harrogate Town forward will provide Paul Hurst with another option in attack for the first half of the season at least as well as extra firepower having recorded six goals and six assists in 41 appearances for the Saddlers last term.

On signing for the Mariners, Kiernan told the club's YouTube channel: “I am looking forward to it. I am pleased that Grimsby was interested and I am looking forward to getting started.

I felt like I had done well [at Walsall]. They’re another passionate fanbase, I clicked with some of my teammates, but I am looking forward to kicking off here and showing what I am about. “I am looking forward to getting to know the boys.
