IPL 2024 Playoffs: What Happens If RCB vs CSK Clash Is Washed Out?

sports.ndtv.com

As the ongoing IPL 2024 inches closer to its culmination, the excitement remains at the pinnacle as five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fight for the final playoff berth in their last league stage encounter.

Table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have already booked their place for the knockout stages but the last team to join them in the playoffs is yet to be ascertained.

RCB are on a five-match winning streak after outclassing Delhi Capitals by 47 runs in their previous game. Despite the forgettable start, the Bengaluru-based franchise gained momentum in the middle of the season to stay alive in the title race.

With 12 points in 13 matches, RCB are placed sixth in the standings. RCB need to win the match against CSK to bolster their hopes of a title finish.

Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals will face a big test of character as they look to arrest their slide in a do-or-die Indian Premier League (IPL) Eliminator against an in-form Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on Wednesday. Royal Challengers Bengaluru women's team star Shreyanka Patil was in no mood to go easy on critics and trolls who questioned if the franchise could secure a top 4 spot after losing 7 of the first 8 matches. Patil, in a post on social media, gave a smashing reply to all those who questioned if the Bengaluru side had the mettle to qualify for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs. After RCB beat Chennai Super Kings to confirm their progression, Patil lauded the team, asserting that sometimes, even 1 percent chance is enough.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Faf Du Plessis expressed happiness at his team's fightback to secure the final playoff spot in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) with a win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, saying that the franchise's turnaround in the tournament was "fun." RCB completed a remarkable turnaround from a horrid first half of the IPL 2024, which saw them win just one in eight games, to securing six successive games to reach the playoffs. RCB finished the league stage at fourth spot with seven wins, seven losses and a total of 14 points, securing a higher net-run-rate than CSK, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) who also had 14 points. RCB skipper took to Instagram and wrote, "How fun was that... so proud of everyone the way they have made the impossible happen. Special night. Special group. Look forward to the next one."
The stage is set for the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs with all four spots now confirmed. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were the first team to qualify for the playoffs, followed by the early pace-setters Rajasthan Royals, who are going through a bit of slump. SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) also booked their spot in the playoffs earlier this week after being one point for their washed out game against the Gujarat Titans. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) dramatically clinch the fourth and final spot on Saturday, putting defending champions Chennai Super Kings out of contention.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) did the unthinkable, securing their sixth win on the trot to qualify for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs. RCB's match against Chennai was a virtual knockout contest, with the winner of the contest (by a certain margin) through to the next round. It was RCB who rode on emphatic performances from skipper Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green to book their spot in the next round while CSK missed out on the playoffs in Ruturaj Gaikwad's first season as the skipper.
