Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has been in the middle of a lot of chatter when it comes to his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The star batter lost his Mumbai Indians captaincy in 2024 as he was replaced by all-rounder Hardik Pandya. It marked the end of Rohit's 10-year tenure as MI captain - a move that was not taken well by a section of the fans.

MI went on to have a horrible season as they finished last in the points table and Hardik was even booed at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ahead of the IPL auction for the 2025 season, multiple reports claim that Rohit can decide to join a new team and in that case, a massive bidding war is expected for one of the greats of the format.

One of the finest captains in world cricket, but Rohit Sharma hasn't been spot-on when it comes to DRS decisions. On Day 4 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, Rohit refused to review a caught-behind decision despite being insisted on going upstairs by wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. Indian captain Rohit Sharma on Sunday emphasised on building his team around "strong bowling options" in order to take the conditions out of the equation as they gear up for the challenges that lay ahead in the run-up to the World Test Championship. Riding on a brilliant all-round performance, India cantered to a massive 280-run victory in the first Test against Bangladesh with five sessions to spare. Senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin completed a memorable all-round outing with a six-wicket haul as a dominant India crushed Bangladesh, after Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill struck fluent hundreds.
In his own way, Ravichandran Ashwin continues to create his legacy in Indian cricket. With more than 500 wickets to his name, Ashwin sits second in the list of wicket-takers for the country in Tests. With 6 Test centuries to his name, the veteran cricketer has established his name as a true all-rounder that the team can rely on in every precarious situation. However, it's been tough for Ashwin to gain recognition in a country that is obsessively in love with its batters. However, veteran Bangladesh cricketer Tamim Iqbal feels R Ashwin's importance is as big as batting greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in India.
India's Test all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin didn't just ace his duties on the field but also off it, after being challenged by skipper Rohit Sharma to keep the conversation with presenter Harsha Bhogle shorter than his. As Ashwin was called up for a chat by Harsha, after being named the Player of the Match for his 6-for and hundred in the Chepauk Test, the all-rounder had everyone laughing as he spoke of the challenge skipper Rohit had given him.
