How the national anthem has changed now our monarch is King Charles III

The words to the National Anthem have changed to “God save our gracious King". Following our national tradition where we have sung 'she' and 'her' for the last 70 years we will now sing 'him' and 'he'.

This is a matter of tradition, not law. Following the sad death of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8 and the announcement that her son will be known as King Charles III the national anthem is one of many changes the country will soon be getting used to.
