Coronation Street fans have made the same prediction about Peter Barlow as they prepare for his exit. Viewers of the ITV soap know the current storyline is leading to an exit for actor Chris Gascoyne, who has played the character on-and-off for 23 years.

Actor Chris briefly revealed in July that he will be leaving the role after becoming the seventh actor to play Ken Barlow's son in 2000.

But a Coronation Street spokesperson said at the time that the door is 'left open' - meaning the 55-year-old could return in the future.

His exit will come after viewers were left in a state of dismay earlier this month as it was revealed that Peter was the reason for Stephen Reid's shocking permanent exit.
