Manchester City are edging closer towards completing their third signing of the summer transfer window in the form of Leeds United defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
City, who will be aiming to retain their Premier League crown for a third consecutive year next season, agreed a fee with Leeds last week to bring the England international to the Etihad Stadium.
He is understood to be joining the club for an initial fee of £42million. Should all go to plan, with his medical understood to be taking place very soon, Phillips will become City's third new recruit of the window, following the arrivals of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and goalkeeper Stefan Ortega on a free transfer. We want to know how many more signings City need this summer - have your say here. Ortega has joined City to become their second-choice goalkeeper behind Ederson, with Zack Steffen poised to join Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.
Scott Carson will remain the third-choice 'keeper. The addition of Phillips will only further strengthen City's midfield armoury.
