Former Bristol City captain Korey Smith is having a medical at Derby County on Friday ahead of signing for the League One club, according to reports.

The midfielder is available on a free transfer this summer after being released by Swansea City, and The Telegraph's John Percy reports Smith is heading to the League One Rams.

The 31-year-old made almost 200 appearances for the Robins across six seasons at Ashton Gate, earning the captain's armband.

He joined from Oldham Athletic in 2014 and was a pivotal player in the Steve Cotterill's double-winning side that romped into the Championship.
