Erik ten Hag explains why Harry Maguire is not in Manchester United squad vs Tottenham

Harry Maguire is absent from Manchester United's squad to play Tottenham on Saturday due to a small injury issue. United accepted a £30million bid from West Ham for Maguire earlier this month, but the move has stalled and a source has now described the deal as unlikely because the centre-back was unable to agree personal terms.

Maguire made just eight league starts last season and he's currently regarded as the fourth-choice centre-back at Old Trafford. United defeated Wolves 1-0 in that game and the performance was underwhelming, however, Ten Hag has challenged those players to put it right against Tottenham by naming an unchanged starting line-up in North London.

He spoke to MUTV ahead of Spurs and said: "We have to do better. We didn't perform well on Monday and I know they can do better, but nonetheless, they won the game.
