Emmerdale fans' 'anxiety' triggered after kidnap plot sees character gagged and bound

Emmerdale fans are getting more drama this week than they have in years thanks to some thoroughly distressing - and depressing - storylines.

But tonight's (Thursday) programme, where Chas Dingle was bound and gagged by gangster Harry, was a step too far for some. Earlier in Super Soap Week, Mackenzie Boyd battled to save Charity Dingle and Chloe harris after a cliffside car smash, and a gruelling rescue scene.

Chloe is hanging onto life by a thread but no one knows for how long. At the same time as a white van drove into Chrloe's little red hatchback, Lydia Dingle was telling Mandy Dingle and Sam Dingle about her horrific rape ordeal.

The scenes where Lydia, played by Karen Blick, detailed the horrific assault, perpetrated by her childhood sweetheart Craig Reed were harrowing and realistic, and fans applauded her ability to conjour the strength to get through.
