Emerging Teams Asia Cup: Pakistan A Humble India A By 128 Runs To Win Title

Tayyab Tahir's exceptional hundred garnished Pakistan A's march to a commanding 128-run win over India A, for a second consecutive Emerging Teams Asia Cup title in Colombo on Sunday.

Once Pakistan posted a mammoth 352 for eight courtesy Tahir's 108 off 71 balls, the result was in no real doubt. India made a fist of it, but ended up at 224 all out in 40 overs to suffer their first defeat in this tournament.

From the toss, everything went south for India, who asked Pakistan to bat first — a decision which was a tad puzzling because the chasing team had lost eight matches in the tournament.

However, Pakistan A, who fielded as many as eight players with international experience, were in mood to give a return gift to India A, who fielded a purely U-23 side with no experience of top-flight cricket.

India's rising cricket star Riyan Parag has hit out at the "faceless trolls" who targets him time and again. Parag, a known name in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been part of the T20 extravaganza since 2019. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 20 lakh for his maiden season. Ahead of IPL 2022, RR released the player and paid a whopping sum of Rs 3.8 crore in the auction to buy him again. While the huge bidding increased the stature of Parag, it also invited some added scrutiny that the player was already facing.

South Zone's juggernaut continued as they clinched the Deodhar Trophy title for the ninth time with a commanding 45-run win over East Zone in the final, here on Thursday. After opener Rohan Kunnummal smacked a sensational century -- a 75-ball 107 with four sixes and 11 fours -- to set the ball rolling for his side, there was no stopping the South Zone who piled up 328 for eight in the summit clash batting first. South Zone's impressive bowling line-up then made life miserable for the East Zone batters, whose top order crumbled to reach 75 for four after 16 overs and were left staring at a mountain to climb. It was not for the first time in the Deodhar Trophy that East Zone pinned all their hopes on the pair of Riyan Parag and Kumar Kushagra, who delivered yet again with a 105-run stand for the sixth wicket, but their effort was just not enough.
India's campaign in the Emerging Asia Cup got jolted in the final as it lost to Pakistan. Riyan Parag was an important member of that  squad. Parag has gone through some turbulent times in recent past. He emerged as a bright talent in the Indian Premier League a few years back, however the Assam youngster's recent performances in the league has not been great for Rajasthan Royals. It has led to widespread criticism in recent times. Parag, who had a good Deodhar Trophy, said he does not care about the criticism.
