Darko Gyabi has explained the reason behind him leaving Manchester City and joining Leeds United. On Monday it was announced that Gyabi would be joining Leeds on a permanent deal after Kalvin Phillips had earlier made the switch to the Etihad Stadium.

The 18-year-old midfielder failed to make a senior squad appearance at City but despite having an injury-riddled season, he did impress in Manchester.

Speaking to LUTV after his arrival in Yorkshire, Gyabi explained his reasoning for making the switch to Elland Road. He said: "I am really excited.

Obviously I have seen that they’ve given the young players a lot of opportunities in the first team here. I think it was nine debuts in the Premier League last season, so that’s really good.
