Creetown’s 88-year wait will come to an end on Saturday. The Castle Cary Park club last played in the Scottish Cup in 1935, when they lost 6-2 to the now defunct Third Lanark.

But they are back in the competition after receiving their club licence from the SFA earlier this year and will host East of Scotland League side Whitehill Welfare on Saturday.

Chairman Eric Houston said: “We’re quite excited about it. “When we last played I don’t think the club was full members of the SFA.

My grandson, Ben Herries, has done most of the paperwork and worked very hard. He got grants for the fence and the lights. “I spend my day down here tidying up, cutting grass and keeping it as good as I can. “It’s been a long, hard slog but it’s been worth it. “I think there will be a good crowd.
