Hamilton Accies' defence of the SPFL Trust Trophy looks set to get off to a chaotic start with the team and some of their supporters delayed at Edinburgh Airport this morning.

The League One side are travelling to Coleraine in Northern Ireland for a third round clash at the Showgrounds, and were due to travel out this morning at 9.30am ahead of this afternoon's 3pm kick-off.

However, a runway incident at the capital's airport has had a knock-on effect on flights and kick-off for the clash is set to be put back. Lanarkshire Live Sport understands the situation has improved and Accies are due to take off shortly, with kick-off likely to be put back by an hour.

A statement on social media read: "At this stage it is likely ko will be delayed in Coleraine due to flight delays at Edinburgh this morning (where the team and a number of fans are at present). "We will update once we have more definite information and we are liaising with Coleraine and SPFL." Coleraine updated their fans, saying: "Due to delays at Edinburgh Airport, today’s match against Hamilton may have to be delayed to a later start time. "If this is the case, we will communicate a new kick-off time as soon as possible." Accies won the competition last season, defeating Raith Rovers 1-0 in the final.
