Gillingham have a much-needed local game to look forward to next season. Former Gillingham title-winner Myles Weston and their ex-youth player Jude Arthurs played their part for South London side Bromley in their National League promotion final win on Sunday.

Both players started Sunday’s final against Solihull Moors at Wembley, with the two teams playing for a place in the Football League.

Bromley were twice pegged back after leading, as the game ended 2-2, but a penalty shootout win means they will now play in the Football League for the first time, which will include a trip to Priestfield.

In a division which is dominated by northern teams next season, including treks to Barrow and relegated Carlisle, having a rival nearby - a mere 30 miles - will be a welcome addition to the fixtures for Gillingham.
