Bhuvneshwar Kumar's death over bowling is real concern: Sunil Gavaskar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar's poor show at the death overs is a "real concern" for India, going into next month's T20 World Cup. Bhuvneshwar has leaked quite a lot of runs at the death in the last few matches.

His 16-run 19th over allowed Australia to pull off a record chase of 209 in the first T20I in Mohali on Tuesday night. "I don't think there was too much dew.

We didn't see the fielders or bowlers trying to use the towel to try and dry their fingers. That's not an excuse. We didn't bowl well.

For example, that 19th over... that's a real concern," Gavaskar said on 'Sports Today'. "Somebody like a Bhuvneshwar Kumar is going for runs every single time, when he is expected.

It has been a decade but Bhuvneshwar Kumar's debut in what was the last bilateral series between India and Pakistan, seems like yesterday. The very second delivery of his international career swung away and after pitching viciously tailed in to disturb opener Nasir Jamshed's timber. Bhuvneshwar has not bowled such a delivery in the last two years. Now that he is expected to lead the Indian attack at the T20 World Cup, his own performance at the death overs is under the scanner.
Rohit Sharma on Sunday. Invited to bat, India posted a massive 237 for 3 but South Africa recovered from a disastrous start to take the game deep before eventually falling short by 16 runs as the hosts claimed their first win over the Proteas in a T20 series at home. "The team wants to play and bowl in a certain way and we want to give them that confidence. Yes, we have not bowled well at the death in the last five or six games. We are doing the same to the opposition as well," Rohit said in the post-match presentation.
Ravi Bishnoi might have been pushed to the reserves list in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup but the young leg-spinner has no regrets about missing out on the 15-member squad for the marquee event. Bishnoi, who was part of the team for the Asia Cup, played just one game during the tournament, which came against Pakistan in the Super 4 clash. He picked one wicket and conceded just 26 runs from his quota of four overs. Prior to that, the youngster impressed during the white-ball tours of Ireland, England and West Indies, scalping 11 wickets in five matches.
Starting from the Asia Cup, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has come under much pressure. Though he took a five-wicket haul in the continental event in a match against Afghanistan, the veteran pacer was costly in the death overs. His poor bowling ended up being one of the reasons behind India not qualifying for the Asia Cup final. In the recently concluded T20I series against Australia, Bhuvneshwar played two matches and took one wicket. His economy was 13 RPO. Since he is a part of India's 15-member T20 World Cup squad, Bhuvneshwar's form is bound to increase the team management's concerns.
Rohit Sharma notched yet another bilateral series win as India captain as his side defeated Australia in a T20I game in Hyderabad on Sunday.   Chasing a target of 187, India reached the mark in 19.5 overs. Skipper Rohit scored 17 off 14 balls. His short innings included one six and two fours. He showed signs of being aggressive and got caught out after charging down the track against Pat Cummins in the fourth over. Former Indian cricket team captain Sunil Gavaskar said that with the batting depth, Rohit can take his chances.
TAMPA, Fla. – On third-and-3 with 1:08 left in the third quarter, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady dropped back, saw that the pocket around him was quickly collapsing and realized he had no open receivers downfield. After dodging two Green Bay Packers defenders, the 45-year-old took off running.
