Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has suggested that competing with Manchester City every season has 'affected' Liverpool this campaign.
Liverpool have won just two of their opening seven Premier League matches so far this term, with the Merseyside outfit currently sat ninth in the table, having recorded just 10 points from a possible 21.
Jurgen Klopp's side, who finished behind City in the league last season, have drawn four and lost once in the top-flight this term.
City, on the other hand, have made a solid start to the campaign and find themselves second in the Premier League table, just one point behind league-leaders Arsenal.
