A murder investigation is continuing today after a man was found dead in Wigan. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) say they were called to Eleanor Street in Wigan at around 12:30pm yesterday (Saturday).
When they arrived, they discovered a man had died. Members of the public tried to save the man's life by carrying out CPR before police and paramedics arrived, they said.
A woman, 28, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of his murder and remained in police custody for questioning on Saturday night.

"GMP launched a murder investigation and a scene has been put in place at the address whilst officers carry out enquiries" the force said.
The force described it 'an isolated incident with no risk to the wider public' and said their investigation was 'continuing at a pace.'

Eleanor Street is a street of terraced houses which is off Wallgate, close to the very busy Saddle Junction on the outskirts of the town centre
In the same statement, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis from GMP's Major Incident Team thanked 'brave' members of the public who performed CPR on the man.
He also moved to reassure people living in the area, describing it as an 'isolated incident' and saying that the investigation was 'progessing at pace.'
