LIVE: Person dies on railway line in emergency incident as Manchester Piccadilly issue travel warning - latest updates

No trains are running from Greater Manchester into London Euston after a person tragically died. Rail bosses announced an 'emergency incident' is affecting services between the two major cities this morning (June 5).

British Transport Police says it follows a fatality in Hertfordshire, after 6am today. The incident is affecting Avanti West Coast services between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly or Wigan North Western.

A post on X from Manchester Piccadilly says: "Travel Warning. Due to an emergency incident there are no mainline services between #Piccadilly and #Euston this morning.

Emergency services have been approached for comment. Updates will be posted below when they are available.

National Rail now says disruption is expected until 1pm.

No mainline train services are able to enter or leave London Euston due to this morning's tragic incident.

Disruption is expected to continue until 10am at least.

As well as Piccadilly services, the incident is also affecting Avanti West Coast services running via Wigan.

British Transport Police told PA it received a report of a casualty on tracks near Watford Junction station, Hertfordshire at 6.04am this morning.

Paramedics attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

An update on Avanti West Coast's website says:

"Journeys to and from London Euston are expected to be cancelled or delayed due to the emergency services responding to an incident between Watford Junction and London Euston which
