Who are the Glazers? The family set to make a fortune from Manchester United

The Glazer family have invested precious little in Manchester United — yet six of them stand to make a fortune from the club’s sale.

The children of the late Malcolm Glazer, who used huge bank loans to buy the club in 2005, have already benefited substantially through dividends, share sales and directors’ remuneration, and are now in line to make more than £500 million each if the club is sold.

Although United have spent heavily on transfers, that has all been financed by the club’s income. According to the football finance blog Swiss Ramble, over the past ten years United are the only club whose owners have taken money out — £187 million.
