Hockey, Shooting, Cricket, Badminton Among Major Sports Axed From 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games

In a body blow to India's medal prospects in the Commonwealth Games, key sports such as hockey, badminton, wrestling, cricket and shooting have been dropped from the 2026 edition by host city Glasgow, which unveiled a pruned roster of 10 disciplines to keep the event budget-friendly. Table tennis, squash, cricket, netball, and road racing have also been axed in a bid to limit the cost and streamline logistics given that only four venues will host the entire showpiece. The total number of events at the Games will be nine fewer compared to the 2022 Birmingham edition.

"Bit Of A Wicket Drought...": India Coach Gives Mammoth Verdict On Mohammed Siraj

It has been a tough few months for Indian cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Siraj. The pacer has struggled to produce a good show with the ball and with four wickets in the series against Bangladesh and two wickets in the first Test match against New Zealand, he has been facing a lot of criticism. Ahead of the second Test in Pune, questions have also been asked off the team management with many suggesting that Akash Deep should replace the struggling Siraj in the playing XI.

PSG Pay For Missed Chances Again In PSV Champions League Draw

Paris Saint-Germain's stuttering start in this season's Champions League continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday, leading coach Luis Enrique to admit he was "worried" about his team's prospects. The Dutch champions led through a Noa Lang strike just after the half-hour mark at the Parc des Princes, but Achraf Hakimi equalised early in the second half. Nevertheless, this was a game PSG should have won given the chances they created, but once again they struggled to put the ball in the net, a recurring problem in Europe.

Vinicius Jr Hat-Trick Fires Champions League Holders Real Madrid To Borussia Dortmund Comeback

Vinicius Junior scored a sublime hat-trick as Champions League holders Real Madrid came back from two goals down to hammer Borussia Dortmund 5-2 on Tuesday. After a shock stumble at Lille in their previous European match, Madrid crushed Dortmund, in a repeat of last season's final, with a superb second half display. Carlo Ancelotti's side claimed a record-extending 15th Champions League crown at Wembley and, as in that match, struggled in the first half against the Bundesliga side, who went two goals up through Donyell Malen and Jamie Gittens.

Tijjani Reijnders Fires AC Milan To First Champions League Points With Club Brugge Double

Tijjani Reijnders made sure AC Milan got their Champions League campaign up and running with a decisive brace in Tuesday's 3-1 win over 10-man Club Brugge at the San Siro. Netherlands midfielder Reijnders stroked home two fine finishes in the 61st and 71st minutes to give Milan their first points in this year's revamped competition. Before Reijnders struck Milan had struggled to deal with Brugge, who had levelled Christian Pulisic's opening goal -- netted straight from a 34th-minute corner -- through Kyriani Sabbe six minutes after the break.

Aston Villa Beat Bologna To Go Top Of The Champions League

John McGinn said there is no limit to Aston Villa's ambition in the Champions League after beating Bologna 2-0 to go top of the table in a dream return to the competition. Villa last played in the top tier of European football back in 1983 but Unai Emery's transformation of a sleeping giant knows no bounds as they became the only side to register three wins from three Champions League games so far. McGinn's free-kick flew beyond everyone into the far corner to open the scoring in the second half before Jhon Duran kept up his prolific strike rate on a rare start for the Colombian.
