LAS VEGAS — When this week started, Nate Diaz's opponent was the dominant rising star Khamzat Chimaev — a little parting gift from the UFC as Diaz heads out the door.
After a whirlwind of a day in Las Vegas, there are three new fights at the top of UFC 279 (Sat. 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+ PPV). Nate Diaz will now face Tony Ferguson at welterweight after Khamzat Chimaev missed on the scales by more than seven pounds. Kevin Holland, who successfully made weight for his 180-pound catchweight bout against Daniel Rodriguez, will take on Chimaev in a five-round fight, and Ferguson's old opponent, Li Jingliang, now faces Rodriguez.
