Ministry Unhappy With Top Wrestlers For Skipping International Meets
The Sports Ministry is apparently livid with country's top wrestlers for opting out of international events in the wake of their ongoing stand-off with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The top wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya, Deepak Punia, Anshu Malik and Sangita Mor have skipped UWW Ranking Series events in Zagreb and Alexandria as a probe panel is investigating the sexual abuse allegations against WFI chief, who has stepped aside pending enquiry.

Oversight Committee Gets Two More Weeks To Complete Probe Into Sexual Harassment Allegations Against Wrestling Body Chief
The Sports Ministry has extended by two weeks the deadline given to the Oversight Committee to submit its report on sexual harassment allegations against WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The Committee, led by legendary boxer MC Mary Kom, was formed on January 23 to investigate into the claims made by country's top wrestlers that Brij Bhushan has sexually harassed several women wrestlers and intimidates the athletes. The wrestlers had not provided the names of the 'victims'.
India lose hosting rights of Asian wrestling meet
UWW has communicated its decision to the sports ministry-appointed oversight committee, headed by legendary boxer M C Mary Kom, sources confirmed to TOI on Wednesday evening. There hasn't been any official communication from either the oversight committee or the UWW informing the same.The world body will soon be announcing a new host city for the continental meet where Indian wrestlers will be allowed to participate. It's been learnt that the six-member committee did try to convince the UWW not to move out the championships from India and even bargained for its postponement. But, the UWW rejected the request after receiving complaints in strict confidentiality from female wrestlers against Singh.The other reason which the UWW cited was the ongoing probe into the allegations and the likely delay in submitting the findings to the government, which could have created problems for the world body as organisers.
