BEIJING : Women in China have shown more interest than men in searching online for Winter Olympics-related information, a report by search engine company Baidu showed on Wednesday.
The manager of India's Winter Olympics contingent, Mohammad Abbas Wani, has tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival at the Beijing Airport here. Abbas Wani is a part of the six-member Indian delegation at the Winter Olympics for which Kashmir skier Arif Khan is the only athlete from the country to have qualified this time. Arif will be competing in Slalom and Giant Slalom events during the Games. The contingent also includes Harjinder Singh as its chef de mission, Ludar Chand Thakur as alpine coach, Puran Chand as technician and Rop Chand Negi as team official.

Friday February 4 2022 will be a very special day in China, as the Beijing’s National Stadium – aka the Bird’s Nest — hosts the Winter Olympics 2022 opening ceremony. It is almost 14 years since the Chinese capital hosted the Summer Olympics in 2008, and the event marks the official start of the games, despite the action actually getting underway on Wednesday.

When Beijing hosts the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on 4 February, it will become the first city in the world to have hosted both the Summer and Winter Games, which this year's medals have been designed to reflect. They will feature the «jade-inlaid medals of the Summer Games in 2008» to showcase Beijing as the first «dual Olympic city,» according to the official Olympic website.
It's Chinese New Year, traditionally a time of great celebration, and the capital is hosting an Olympic Games. But you wouldn't know it.
