After IPL Windfall, Nicholas Pooran Throws Huge Pizza Party For West Indies Teammates

Elated after his Rs 10.75 crore IPL payday, West Indies batter Nicholas Pooran gave his teammates a pizza party inside the bio-bubble, ordering 15 pizzas that cost him Rs 15,000. Pooran had endured an abysmal IPL 2021 season for Punjab Kings scoring 85 runs at a poor average of 7.72 and in the ongoing series too his performances have been below par. But despite his poor run, Sunrisers Hyderabad went all out for the Windies lefthander." "Since outside food is not allowed he placed the order at the hotel chef for 15 pizzas," the local manager told PTI.

"...Which Was His Greatness As A Captain": Ajit Agarkar Analyses Virat Kohli's Captaincy

After pulling off a clean sweep in the three-match ODI series, the focus now shifts towards India's three-game T20I series against West Indies, starting with the first match on Wednesday, February 16. All eyes will be on Virat Kohli once again following his poor show in the ODI series. On the eve of the first T20I, former India pacer Ajit Agarkar shared his views on Kohli, who will return to the T20 team for the first time since giving up the captaincy last year. He said that even when Kohli was the skipper, "his runs didn't dry up" despite the added pressure, which are signs of a great captain.

"Not Necessarily Experiment": Rohit Sharma On Preparing For 2022 T20 World Cup

"Experiment" is the buzz word in any global tournament year but Indian captain Rohit Sharma finds it a tad "over-rated" and he does not want the juniors in the team to feel insecure. With T20 World Cup in Australia scheduled layer this year, Rohit knows that some of the slots, like pace and spin bowling all-rounders still need to be filled and he wants youngsters to get adequate chances. "The word 'experiment' is a little overrated in my terms. We are trying to fill in that gap in our squad, so whatever it takes we will try and do," Rohit said during a virtual media interaction on the eve of the opening T20 against the West Indies.

India vs West Indies, 1st T20I: When And Where To Watch Live Telecast, Live Streaming

Having swept the three-match ODI series 3-0, India will now aim to bolster their T20 credentials when they take on the West Indies in the opening T20I of the three-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday. Last year, India failed to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup. With about eight months to go for the next edition of the tournament, this time in Australia, India have handful of games to figure out their best possible side to pose a threat to the likes of England, Australia and New Zealand. Skipper Rohit Sharma will be keen to try out different options in this series against the West Indies.

India Predicted XI For 1st T20I vs West Indies: Rohit Sharma Likely To Pick A Debutant; Focus On Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer

India registered a 3-0 clean sweep against the West Indies in Rohit Sharma's maiden tryst as a full-time white-ball captain but even the biggest of Team India fans would agree that there are multiple holes to be filled in the limited-overs set-up. Despite India's dominating performance just a week back in the ODIs, one is likely to give it a second thought before betting on them to repeat the same in the T20I series beginning in Kolkata on Wednesday. Partly it is because of West Indies' reputation of performing far better in the T20Is compared to the other formats but largely it is because of India's indifferent form in the shortest format of late. Not too long ago, India failed to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup last year. With about eight months to go for another global event, this time in Australia, India have handful of games to figure out their best possible side to pose a threat to the likes of England, Australia and New Zealand.

IPL Auction Done And Dusted, It's About Giving Best For West Indies Now: Kieron Pollard

Their players may have earned hefty deals at the IPL mega auction but West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard on Tuesday said its time to move on and focus on international cricket as his team looks to tame India in the T20 series. From the large pool of available players, 14 West Indians were chosen to join Pollard, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, who were retained by their respective franchises ahead of the auction, making up the largest number of foreign players in the IPL, from any territory outside of India.
