Rain interrupted proceedings in the blockbuster Asia Cup Super 4 clash between India and Pakistan in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Sunday. India were 147-2 in 24.1 overs after being invited to bat first, before rain forced players off the field and the showers soon got heavy. Virat Kohli was batting on eight, while KL Rahul, who replaced Shreyas Iyer in the XI, was unbeaten on 17. Earlier, Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) put on 121 runs for the opening wicket before leg-spinner Shadab Khan and left-arm quick Shaheen Shah Afridi sent them back in back-to-back overs. The match has resumed now.
The undisputed No.1 in in the world of men's tennis, Novak Djokovic, added another Grand Slam title to his name, defeating Russia's Daniil Medvedev to win the US Open 2023 title. After what was his 24th Grand Slam win, Djokovic paid a brilliant tribute to late basketball star Kobe Bryant, wearing a "Mamba Forever" shirt during the trophy presentation. Djokovic beat Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6 (7/5), 6-3 to clinch his fourth US Open crown and gain revenge for his loss to the Russian two years ago which shattered his dreams of a calendar Grand Slam.

Pakistan cricket team batter Fakhar Zaman won the hearts of both fans and experts after he helped the ground staff at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to cover the ground after rain interrupted play during their Asia Cup 2023 match against India on Sunday. With India on 147/2 in 24.1 overs, the game was halted due to heavy rain and as soon as the umpire signalled, the ground staff rushed in with the covers, Zaman joined them in dragging the covers on to the field and his effort was applauded by the fans present at the stadium as well as the commentators. The group stage match between India and Pakistan was abandoned due to rain but the Super 4 game has a reserve day on September 11.
Ex-F1 driver Karun Chandhok escaped a serious injury during a race at the 2023 Goodwood Revival on Saturday. Chandhok's car caught fire and took a round to make things tough for him. However, the Indian driver showed amazing reflexes to control his car and a great presence of mind to take it off the circuit. Chandhok took his car to the grass off the road and then quickly made his way out of the racing vehicle. While the incident was horrific, the moves from Chandhok were simply flawless.

Bumrah and wife Sanjana Ganesan were blessed with a baby boy earlier this week and Shaheen had a gift for him. Gill and Rohit added 61 runs in the first powerplay, with the former putting on a show against Pakistan's dominant new ball bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah. Luck wasn't on Pakistan's side either in the first 10 overs as Gill was dropped on 0 and 34 by Shaheen and Iftikhar Ahmed, respectively.
