Watch: DRS Controversy Strikes WPL 2024, UP Warriorz's Chamari Athapaththu's LBW Triggers Debate

A rather bizarre incident took place in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Monday after UP Warriorz' Chamari Athapaththu was controversialy dismissed LBW. Facing a leg-spinner, Athapaththu was hit on the pads by Georgia Wareham of Royal Challengers Bangalore. While the on-field umpire gave the decision in the favour of the batting team, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana decided to go for a review. Surprisingly, the ball-tracking showed that the delivery from Wareham would've hit the stumps, suggesting it was a googly and not a leg-spinner.

Watch; Toddler In Tears After Being Hit By Lionel Messi's Wayward Free-Kick

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez scored two goals each as Inter Miami turned on the style hammering Orlando City 5-0 in Major League Soccer. Florida rivals Orlando finished second in the Eastern Conference last season and have been considered contenders for this season's MLS Cup but they were outclassed by Miami from the outset. Suarez had lacked sharpness and match fitness in his first two outings but the prolific 37-year-old top scorer for Gremio in Brazil last season put aside any doubts about his continuing ability in the final third. "I'm very happy for him, that he was able to score. We were calm anyway, we know what Luis is and what he is capable of doing and everyone knows it," Messi said.

Watch: Angelo Mathews' 'Timed Out' Controversy Revisited With Bangladesh Star's 'Dig' At Rivals During T20I

During the ODI World Cup 2023, a dismissal of Sri Lanka's Angelo mathews snowballed into a major controversy. The fashion in which the former Sri Lanka skipper was dismissed was the reason behind it. Sadeera Samarawickrama had just been dismissed and Angelo Mathews arrived at the crease at the fall of the fourth wicket. But soon there was confusion as Mathews realised that he had brought the wrong helmet and pleaded his case with the Bangladesh players and the umpires.
