Rohit Sharma's expression said it all after a disappointing decision from umpire Joel Wilson on Day 1 of the fifth Test match between India and England in Dharamsala on Thursday. During the seventh over of India's innings, a delivery from James Anderson went down the leg side and brushed Rohit's thigh pad on the way but England decided to appeal for a catch. The umpire raised his finger in response but Rohit reviewed the decision immediately and his expression made it clear that he was not pleased with the decision. Replays showed that Rohit was correct and the decision was reversed.
As Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill piled up their respective centuries on Day 2 of the 5th Test in Dharamsala, England captain Ben Stokes took the matter into his own hands, bowling for the first time in the series. Rohit and Gill looked in absolute control in the first session which was dominated by India. At the lunch break, Stokes was seen warming up with the ball, sending a signal that he could bowl soon. The ball hit wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel and lobbed towards the leg side where Sarfaraz Khan showed good reflexes to grab it before it could fall on the ground. What followed was a massive appeal from India, especially Sarfaraz. The ground umpires were unconvinced but Sarfaraz was sure about a wicket there. However, Jurel thought otherwise and that saw Rohit turning down the request for Sarfaraz for a DRS.
Indian cricket team wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel pulled off an MS Dhoni-like masterplan to dismiss Ollie Pope during Day 1 of the fifth Test match against England in Dharamsala on Thursday. Dhoni is well known for his impeccable reading of the game and Jurel showed a similar talent as he perfectly predicted how Kuldeep Yadav can dismiss Pope. In the 26th over of the innings, Jurel shouted from behind the stumps that he believed that Pope would step out of his crease to counter the spin. "Yeh badhega aage (he will step out)," he told Kuldeep. It was exactly what happened as Kuldeep tricked Pope with a flighted delivery and Jurel made no mistake in completing the stumping.
