The A572 Chapel Street in Leigh has been closed in both directions between the A547 at Warrington Road and Stott Wharf. According to Transport for Greater Manchester, the reason for the closure is a road traffic collision.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have advised residents of Rhymney to keep their doors and windows closed following a fire at the Heads of the Valley Industrial Estate in the early hours of today. It is not known whether anyone was injured in the incident but the location would suggest there are concerns about the fire spreading.
