Stuart Broad sent down the most expensive over in Test history as India piled on tail-end runs at Edgbaston.
England great Stuart Broad set a new if unwanted record by conceding 35 runs in a Test over, against India at Edgbaston on Saturday.
Stuart Broad for a 35-run over on Day 2 of the rescheduled fifth Test against England in Birmingham. Broad has now the unwarranted record of conceding most runs in an over in Test cricket's history. Bumrah and his blade went after Broad as the Englishman relived the horror of the 2007 inaugural T20 World Cup when the now retired India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh smashed him for 36 runs that had 6 sixes in it.
Ravindra Jadeja continued from where he left on Day 1 in the fifth rescheduled Test against England at Edgbaston and scored only his third Test ton. He reached the three-figure mark in style with a boundary off Matthew Potts. While Rishabh Pant's ton on Friday was fiery, No. 7 Jadeja took his time to settle in and made a late flourish on Saturday. His ton was only the fourth instance of any No. 7 or lower order Indian Test batter scoring two centuries in a calendar year, with Kapil Dev (1986), MS Dhoni (2009) and Harbhajan Singh (2010) being the other members of the elite club. This is also the third instance in Indian cricket, when two left-handers scored tons in the same innings. The earlier instances were: Sadagopan Ramesh (110)-Sourav Ganguly (125) against New Zealand in Ahmedabad (1999) and Ganguly (239)-Yuvraj Singh (169) against Pakistan in in Bengaluru (2007).
Stuart Broad on Saturday became the third pacer in Test cricket history to claim 550 wickets. He dismissed Mohammed Shami on Day 2 of the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test match between India and England at Edgbaston in Birmingham to register the record. The right-arm England pacer needed just one wicket to reach the milestone when he had entered the game but he remained wicketless on Day 1 despite bowling 15 overs. It was in his 16th over of the match and the first on Day 2 when Broad finally got a wicket.
BIRMINGHAM, England : India were all out for 416 in their first innings in the rearranged fifth test against England at Edgbaston on Saturday.
SYDNEY : The Wallabies suffered a major blow just before the start of the first of three July tests against England when flyhalf Quade Cooper was ruled out of the match after suffering a calf injury during the warm-up at Perth Stadium on Saturday.
