The German sixth seed upset the world number two 6-1, 6-3, 6-7 (2/7), 6-4 on Rod Laver Arena to make the last four at a Grand Slam for the seventh time. It is worth noting that Alcaraz was the second seed in the tournament. He lost the first two sets 1-6, 3-6 against Zverev before making a noticeable comeback and win the third set in the tie-breaker. However, Zverev put a superb show in the fourth set to seal the match in his favour, eventually setting up a semi-final clash with Medvedev.
