Sandeep Lamichhane To Join Nepal Team In West Indies For Last Two T20 World Cup League Matches

Denied US visa, Nepal's most high-profile cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane is joining his team for its Caribbean leg of the T20 World Cup campaign, the country's cricket association said on Monday. Lamichhane, who had an eight-year sentence for rape overturned on appeal because of "lack of evidence", was denied US visa twice last month despite interventions from the Nepal government. The 23-year-old was initially included in Nepal's 15-member squad for the tournament last month. The T20 World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States and West Indies. "We would like to inform you that Nepali player Sandeep Lamichhane will be included in the Nepali national cricket team for the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies," the CAN said in a statement.

As India clinched the victory, even the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah couldn't keep calm.

Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya Share Beautiful Moment En Route India's Thrilling Win Against Pakistan

India snatched a win from the jaws of defeat in their T20 World Cup 2024 match against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday. Despite being bowled out for 119, the Indian team put on a brilliant bowling performance to restrict Pakistan to 113/7 in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show as he bagged three wickets while conceding just 14 runs. Bumrah dismissed Pakistan openers Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and the explosive Iftikhar Ahmed. India captain Hardik Pandya was also among the wickets as he bagged two to maintain the pressure from the other end.

"I Switch Off The TV When...": Jasprit Bumrah's Take On New York's Bowling Friendly Pitches

Following his side's six run win over Pakistan in their ICC T20 World Cup clash, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah opened up on his admiration for bowling that he has had since childhood and how run-fests do not really excite him. Jasprit Bumrah's miserly three-wicket haul which applied pressure on Pakistan batters and a counter-attacking, match-saving knock by Rishabh Pant powered India to a narrow win at a packed Nassau County Stadium which keeps India's World Cup dreams alive with two more group stage games to go.

Sandeep Lamichhane will join Nepal's T20 World Cup squad in the West Indies after missing matches in the United States because his visa was denied, the cricket association said Monday. Nepal had originally wanted to select former skipper Lamichhane, who had an eight-year sentence for rape quashed on appeal, but his US visa was denied twice despite intense lobbying. The T20 World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States and West Indies. "Nepali player Sandeep Lamichhane will leave for the West Indies for the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup and join the Nepali national cricket team," association secretary Paras Khadka said in a statement.

Imad Wasim Accused Of Deliberately "Wasting Balls" To Make Chase Tough, Let Team Lose vs India

Former skipper Salim Malik has accused Imad Wasim of deliberately wasting balls in Pakistan's six-run loss to arch-rivals India in the T20 World Cup in New York. Chasing an underwhelming 120-run target, Pakistani batters consumed 59 dot balls to be restricted to 113 for 7 in New York on Sunday. Wasim took 23 balls to score his 15 runs in the losing cause. "You look at his (Wasim) innings and it appears as if he was wasting balls not scoring runs and making things difficult in the run-chase," Malik said on 24 News channel.
