The January transfer window might have only just opened but Manchester United are already looking ahead to the summer, when significant change can take place.
The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team endured a tough second day in the first Test against South Africa in Centurion on Wednesday. When bad light forced early stumps, South Africa had already taken a 11-run lead with five wickets remaining courtesy Den Elgar's classy unbeaten 140. Before that KL Rahul's 101 had taken India to 245, which many experts felt was a decent enough total. The start of India's bowling was not bad either as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Aiden Markram cheaply.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis said the franchise's main focus at the IPL auction was to build a side which can put in improved performances at its own den during the IPL 2024. Du Plessis felt RCB made strategic acquisitions to achieve optimal team balance at the auction in Dubai on Tuesday while executing six bids. "After the last season, we felt like we needed to improve at home. One of the things that we did really well was to succeed away from Chinnaswamy," Du Plessis said in a statement.
Expect Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to be the busiest team of the lot at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction, set to be conducted on December 19 in Dubai. Having released 12 players in the lead up to the IPL 2024 auction, KKR will look to fill up as many slots. Shreyas Iyer and the KKR management will need to make a minimum of six acquisitions to meet the minimum requirement of 18 squad players.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), despite making it to three finals, are yet to win the Indian Premier League (IPL) title. With the upcoming IPL 2024 Auction scheduled on December 19 in Dubai, the Bangalore franchise will look to secure the necessary talent to, hopefully, end the jinx in the upcoming edition of the IPL. RCB is set to make a major overhaul in their bowling attack this season. Led by South African cricketer Faf du Plessis, the franchise has opted to let go 11 players, mostly bowlers.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction will take place on December 19 in Dubai. While the upcoming IPL season is likely to be scheduled for March next year, teams have already started endeavours to strengthen their respective squads. Five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have signalled their intent by securing the services of all-rounder Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash deal. The return of the talented all-rounder, known for his explosive batting and bowling, adds depth to the Mumbai Indians' line-up.
Champions in 2022 and last season's runner-ups, Gujarat Titans will head into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction in Dubai on December 19 with a Hardik Pandya-sized hole to fill. Having traded Hardik, who captained the side in the last two seasons, to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal, Gujarat Titans, however, will have a hefty purse of INR 38.15 crore - the most for any team - to address the enigmatic all-rounder's loss and potentially strengthen their squad at the IPL 2024 auction.
The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction is probably the most crucial for Delhi Capitals (DC). The Rishabh Pant-led side struggled in the previous season, finishing a lowly ninth with five wins and nine losses in 14 league matches. Meanwhile, the good news is that their captain Rishabh Pant is expected to recover in time for IPL 2024. He recently attended a training camp with DC in Kolkata, in the presence of Ricky Ponting (head coach), Pravin Amre (assistant coach) and Sourav Ganguly (director of cricket).
