Bangladesh pace bowler Shoriful Islam has been ruled out of the second and final Test against Sri Lanka because of a hand injury, the cricket board said on Thursday. The 20-year-old retired hurt after being struck on the right hand while batting on the fourth day of the ongoing first Test in Chittagong on Wednesday. An X-ray confirmed a fracture, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a statement.

Bangladesh were all out for 465 runs with a first-innings lead of 68 when the last man Shoriful Islam was unable to carry on his innings after a blow to the hand while batting. Sri Lanka then lost two wickets to reach 39-2 in 17.1 overs in their second innings before stumps were drawn on the fourth day, reducing their deficit to 29.
Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to complete 5,000 Test runs on Wednesday when the hosts faced Sri Lanka in Chittagong. Playing his 81st Test, the most for any player from Bangladesh, Mushfiqur resumed his innings on the fourth day of the first Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium 15 runs short of the milestone. He achieved it when he nudged Asitha Fernando towards fine leg in the 16th over of the day for two runs. The 35-year-old was however lucky to achieve the feat first. Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal came close to it Tuesday when he struck 133 runs.
