The new Formula 1 season is approaching with car launches getting underway this month before the first test in Barcelona towards the end of February.
Plans for the 2022 season have been put in place for a long period of time, but Mercedes and Red Bull are part of a small group of teams in a reported £103million battle with the FIA. Regulation changes for this year's cars have been long in the works with some teams working on them from 2017.

Fabio Jakobsen (QuickStep-AlphaVinyl) won stage 2 of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana in an impressive sprint display in Torrent. Dylan Groenewegen edged a competitive sprint finish to win stage three of the Saudi Tour. Groenewegen, of Team BikeExchange–Jayco, streaked clear of the pack in the final few hundred metres to take the victory ahead of Britain's Dan Mclay after the 181km stage from Tayma Hadaj to AlUla Old Town. Haas and Williams were the only teams yet to announce any launch plans for 2022, but the American outfit has now announced that its livery will be revealed tomorrow (4 February).
