Israel and Palestine flags will not be allowed into stadiums for Premier League matches from this weekend. In a bid to ensure top-flight grounds are not used by supporters of either side of the escalating Middle East conflict to voice their protests, the Star of David flag and the flag of Palestine will be banned. Last week, the British Government encouraged sports bodies in the UK to pay respects to the victims of the recent violence in Israel and the Gaza strip. It is understood the UK's Department for Culture, Media and Sport had written to various governing bodies suggesting they pay tribute in an appropriate manner at forthcoming events. While the UK Government has expressed its steadfast support of Israel, the Football Association opted not to light up the Wembley arch with the colours of the Israel flag for England's friendly against Australia last Friday. England players wore black armbands during that match and a period of silence was held before kick-off to respect "the innocent victims of the devastating events in Israel and Palestine".

Argentina have invoked their historic victory over New Zealand last year in their quest to pull off a seismic upset by winning Friday's World Cup semi-final. The Pumas prevailed 25-18 in Christchurch to topple the All Blacks for the first time and skipper Julian Montoya says that has instilled the belief that they can engineer a dramatic upset at the Stade de France. "As soon as you get on the field you believe you can win. It's true we have some firsts under our belts," Montoya said. "We were the first Argentina team to beat New Zealand and that confirms we can beat anyone. "I have full confidence in our team and our players. This is the moment to play the best game of our lives and give everything." The All Blacks are known for their ability to conjure spectacular tries but Argentina head coach Michael Cheika insists they are also accomplished at the less glamorous parts of the game. "New Zealand have always been an example in rugby, a benchmark. They make you think of high-level skills in a really open game but there are always threats in the line-out, mauls and rucks," Cheika said. "In a World Cup semi-final they are dangerous everywhere. We have been training as best we can, we will be ready. We'll see what happens." Argentina have made one change to the side that defeated Wales 29-17 in the quarter-finals, bringing in Gonzalo Bertranou for Tomas Cubelli at scrum-half. Matias Alemanno, Agustin Creevy, Facundo Isa, Tomas Lavanini, Nicolas Sanchez, Guido Petti and Montoya are the survivors from the Pumas' last World Cup semi-final against Australia in 2015.
Lincoln have announced the departures of head coach Mark Kennedy and assistant Danny Butterfield. The Imps have won only one of their last six Sky Bet League One matches and sit 16th in the table, five points off the the play-off places. In a statement on their official website, the Imps said first-team coach Tom Shaw had been placed in temporary charge. The club said: "Head coach Mark Kennedy and assistant head coach Danny Butterfield have left the Imps. "Mark took charge of City in the summer of 2022, overseeing more than 70 games. He was joined by Danny in December of that year. "First-team coach Tom Shaw will take charge of the first team on an interim basis while the club undertakes a thorough process to identify our next head coach." Former Republic of Ireland, Liverpool and Manchester City winger Kennedy left his post as Birmingham assistant head coach to succeed Michael Appleton as permanent boss at Sincil Bank.
