Injured Temba Bavuma Out Of South Africa's England Tour

South Africa white-ball skipper and Test vice-captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of their tour of England which starts next month, Cricket South Africa said on Wednesday. Bavuma suffered an elbow injury during a recent Twenty20 series in India and needs eight weeks to recover. The Proteas will play three world championship Tests, three one-day internationals and three T20 internationals against England as well as two T20 internationals against Ireland in England. Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj will lead the one-day team and batsman David Miller will lead the T20 side in Bavuma's absence.

South Africa spinner Tabraiz Shamsi took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a picture of him with India batter Shreyas Iyer from a pre-match training session and came up with an epic caption. In the picture, Shamsi can be seen chatting with Shreyas, who has his bat in hand. "Asked @ShreyasIyer15 for his bat before the game so he could stop hitting me for 6s haha," Shamsi captioned the picture, before going on to add "you definitely won this round bud!"

Umran Malik warmed the bench throughout the India-South Africa T20I series. The fast bowler, who impressed with his speed at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, is also part of the India squad for the Ireland Tour later this month. Malik finished as the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the IPL 2022 with 22 scalps in 14 games. Many former players including the great Sunil Gavaskar and Irfan Pathan have said that they have rarely seen such an exciting prospect in Indian cricket. There is Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul among others in the openers' slots. Kishan is also a contender for that slot. The Rishabh Pant-led Indian cricket team drew 2-2 in the five match T20I series against South Africa after the fifth game was abandoned due to rain. However, Pant's form with the bat was not up to the mark. In five matches, he scored only 58 runs at an average of 14.50.
