Mohammed Siraj bowled a brilliant spell in Ranchi as India beat South Africa in the 2nd ODI on Sunday. However, in a hilarious instance, the pacer tried a cheeky run-out which ended up in four byes for South Africa. In the 48th over, Siraj got the ball to beat Keshav Maharaj. Sanju Samson, from behind the stumps, threw the ball back to Siraj, who saw non-striker David Miller standing outside his crease. He tried to have a quick throw at the stumps to run Miller out, but he missed and the ball raced away to the boundary.

Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India levelled the ongoing three-match ODI series against South Africa as they chased down 209 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan played knocks of 113* and 93 respectively as India registered a comfortable seven-wicket win with 25 balls to spare. Shreyas and Kishan stitched together a stand of 161 runs for the fourth wicket and this partnership set up India's victory. In the end, Shreyas (113*) and Sanju Samson (30*) remained unbeaten for the hosts.

India captain Shikhar Dhawan said the team's plan to take on the South African bowlers in the first ten overs of the run chase clicked as the hosts notched a comfortable seven-wicket win in the second ODI to level the three-match series in Ranchi on Sunday. India chased down the target of 279 with 25 balls remaining, riding on a brilliant 113 not out off 111 balls from Shreyas Iyer and 93 from Ishan Kishan. "The ball was coming on nicely but it was keeping low. So our plan was to take on the bowlers in the first ten overs," Dhawan said at the post-match presentation.

Iyer made his second ODI hundred (113 not out off 111) and shared a match winning 161-run stand with Kishan (93 off 84) to ensure a comfortable win in 45.5 overs for a second string Indian team.
