Rampant Kagiso Rabada Bowls South Africa To Victory Over West Indies

Kagiso Rabada picked up six for 50 to bowl South Africa to an 87-run victory over West Indies in the first Test at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Thursday. After bowling out the hosts for 116 in the morning, West Indies needed 247 to win but were dismissed for just 159. The only resistance of note came from Jermaine Blackwood who made a gutsy 79 before being ninth man out. The match hurtled to a conclusion with more than two days to spare as the fast bowlers of both teams held sway on a pitch of variable bounce. West Indies' Kemar Roach dominated the morning as he took five for 47 as South Africa, resuming on 49 for four, lost their last six wickets for 67 runs.

South Africa vs West Indies, 1st Test, Day 1 Live Score: South Africa Off To Rapid Start After Opting To Bat vs vs West Indies

SA vs WI, 1st Test, Day 1 Live Updates: South Africa openers, Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram, made a solid start after Temba Bavuma, in his first Test as captain, won the toss and opted to bat in the first Test against the West Indies at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Tuesday. The South African team showed five changes from the side that played in the third Test of a losing series in Australia in January. Opening batsman Tony de Zorzi and fast bowler Gerald Coetzee won their first caps. Keegan Petersen returned from injury while left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy, who played two Tests in India in 2019, was a surprise inclusion ahead of Keshav Maharaj. How KL Rahul Has Fared As India's Test Captain And Vice-captain So Far

India batter KL Rahul is going through a lean patch with the bat in Test cricket. India's ongoing Test series against Australia saw the batter failing to score big across three innings of the first two matches. The player has been kept in the squad for the ongoing series despite his poor form, but the the designation of vice-captain has been removed from his name. While BCCI announced the squad for the remaining two Test matches against Australia, its release didn't have the post of vice-captain next to Rahul's name. Speculations are rife that Rahul has been sacked from the post and Shubman Gill will be included in the playing XI in his place. Whether Rahul could keep his spot or not it will all be clear by March 1, the day the third Test kicks off at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.

South Africa Aim To Launch New Era In Test Series Against West Indies

South Africa's Test series against the West Indies, which starts at SuperSport Park on Tuesday, could hardly be more low-key but it has the potential to launch a new era for the country's Test team. New coach Shukri Conrad has already stamped his authority on the team, appointing Temba Bavuma as the new captain -- the first Black African to skipper the Test team -- and clearing out several players who were found wanting in losing series in England and Australia. The Test series has had minimal build-up in a South African season which has been dominated by Twenty20 cricket.
