IPL 2022: Odean Smith lauds PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal for backing him

Odean Smith praised skipper Mayank Agarwal for motivating him after the pacer was unable to defend 19 runs in the last over against Gujarat Titans. Odean's statement came after Punjab Kings won against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, where he defended 22 runs in the final over. "They have been very motivating. They have helped me mentally to be able to come into this game and put in the performance today. They have been a major help for me. I would like to thank the coach," said Odean Smith in a post-match press conference. "Captain Mayank has been amazing. He has always come to me and told me that he is backing me 100 per cent, no matter what happens. It's just for me to believe that I can do it because I have the belief of the entire team behind me," he added.

IPL 2022, CSK vs RCB: Harshal Patel has ability to stop the game, RCB missed that, admits skipper Faf du Plessis after defeat against CSK

Faf du Plessis admitted that Royal Challengers Bangalore missed the services of their pacer Harshal Patel in their defeat against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022 on Tuesday. Notably, Harshal was not part of RCB's playing XI against Chennai at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy as the pacer had to leave the IPL bio bubble to return home after news of his sister's tragic death. Sources in RCB had said that Harshal exited the bubble on Sunday after the game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. It is not yet clear how long Harshal will remain unavailable for the RCB team. Faf du Plessis in the post-match presentation said: "First 7-8 overs were pretty good, then there was a period from 8-14 where Dube took the spinners on. That period, whatever we tried didn't work. In order to chase down such a big score, you need one of the first four to set the foundation. We didn't have that. CSK used their spinners well on a pitch that had some grip. The way we came back was credit to the depth."

IPL 2022: I think we were 10 runs short, says Gujarat skipper Hardik Pandya after losing against SRH

Gujarat Titans' (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya admitted that a total of 162 was at least 10 runs short of what would have been a par-score against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who chased down the target by losing only two wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game on Monday. This was Gujarat Titans' first defeat after winning three matches on the trot in their maiden appearance in the IPL. "I think batting-wise we were 7-10 runs short; that would have made a difference in the end. We started well with the ball, but those two overs where they scored 30 runs, got them back into the game," Hardik said after the match.

IPL 2022: Bowling let us down, says skipper Jadeja; irate coach Fleming feels team is coming 'distant second' every time

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ravindra Jadeja is "unhappy" with the performance of the bowling unit while head coach Stephen Fleming feels the team needs to improve in every department going forward. Defending champions CSK suffered its four consecutive loss on Saturday after receiving a one-sided eight-wicket thrashing at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad with young Abhishek Sharma playing the opposition bowlers with ease. "It's with the ball that we are disappointed but we were 20-25 runs short," Jadeja said after the match.
