A confident Indian 10m air rifle team led by teenage world champion Rudrankksh Patil gave the country its first gold medal, securing the top place on the podium with a world record score. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar then earned the country an individual bronze -- India's fourth in shooting so far -- in the event after a third-place shoot-off with compatriot Rudrankksh, who finished fourth.

Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar on Monday was elated at winning two medals at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. “I never thought that I would win two medals in a single day,” the 22-year-old athlete told ANI. Aishwary was part of the Indian team which won a gold at the Men's 10 Metre Air Rifle Team event earlier today and he also notched a bronze medal in the individual event of the same category. “It is not a gold medal (in a team event) but also our world record so it is very special. We are very happy that we won gold in the team event and created a new world record in the Asian Games,” said the shooter who hails from Khargone in Madhya Pradesh.

Indian shooter Vijayveer Sidhu could not finish among medal winners in the 25m rapid-fire pistol men's final shooting event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday and stood at the fourth position at the end of the competition. Sandhu had 21 points which took him out of the medal contention. The Indian rapid-fire pistol shooting trio of Anish, Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh secured a bronze medal in the 25m rapid-fire pistol team men's event.
