HANGZHOU, China : Three North Korean marksmen refused to join their South Korean rivals in a group photo of medal winners at the Hangzhou Asian Games after narrowly missing out on gold in a men's team shooting competition on Monday.
Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar on Monday was elated at winning two medals at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. “I never thought that I would win two medals in a single day,” the 22-year-old athlete told ANI. Aishwary was part of the Indian team which won a gold at the Men's 10 Metre Air Rifle Team event earlier today and he also notched a bronze medal in the individual event of the same category. “It is not a gold medal (in a team event) but also our world record so it is very special. We are very happy that we won gold in the team event and created a new world record in the Asian Games,” said the shooter who hails from Khargone in Madhya Pradesh.
Indian shooter Vijayveer Sidhu could not finish among medal winners in the 25m rapid-fire pistol men's final shooting event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday and stood at the fourth position at the end of the competition. Sandhu had 21 points which took him out of the medal contention. The Indian rapid-fire pistol shooting trio of Anish, Vijayveer Sidhu and Adarsh Singh secured a bronze medal in the 25m rapid-fire pistol team men's event. The Indian men's 10m air rifle team created history on Monday as the trio of world champion Rudrankksh Patil, Olympian Divyansh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar clinched the Gold medal in the Men's 10m Air Rifle event. In the process, the trio broke the world record in a team event, aggregating a total score of 1893.7 in the qualification round. Rudrankksh shot 632.5, Tomar 631.6 and Panwar 629.6 to aggregate the world record score. Rudrankksh and Aishwary qualified for the Men's Individual 10m Air Rifle final in the process.
