The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 has made the cricketing world take notice of the talent possessed by 35-year-old Sheldon Jackson, not only as a batter but also as a wicketkeeper. Despite some ordinary batting performances so far in IPL 2022, Jackson has been able to impress everyone with his lightning fast glovework behind the stumps. Such has been his impact that one of his admirers also include former wicketkeeper-batter and current head coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise, Brendon McCullum. The former New Zealand captain seemed quite impressed by Jackson's technique with the bat and glovework and even likened his skills to that of MS Dhoni and Andre Russell.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday announced that they have roped in Rajat Patidar as a replacement for the injured Luvnith Sisodia for the remainder of the ongoing IPL 2022 season. Patidar has so far played 39 first-class matches for Madhya Pradesh. In the shortest format, he has scored 861 runs in 31 matches at an average of 30.75 with his highest score being 96. He also has 7 half-centuries to his name in the 20-over format
After beginning their IPL 2021 campaign with a victory in the season opener, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) suffered a narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 6 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday. Losing by three wickets and four balls to spare, RCB had to rely on some calm batting by Dinesh Karthuk and Harshal Patel to seal a win. Chasing a target of 129 runs, RCB reached 132 for seven in 19.2 overs. During the second innings, fans and experts spotted KKR captain Shreyas Iyer's dilemma in finding a fifth bowler. All-rounder Andre Russell, who is battling fitness issues, completed only 2.2 overs and Venkatesh Iyer bowled a solitary over. Speaking on Cricbuzz, former cricketer and commentator Simon Doull analysed the issue and also shared a solution for Iyer.
Royal Challengers Bangalore produced a great bowling performance on Wednesday to skittle out a strong Kolkata Knight Riders batting unit for just 128, which set up their first victory in IPL 2022. Akash Deep and Wanindu Hasaranga did the damage up front but KKR has a long batting line-up and they had hopes of staging a recovery with the hard-hitting Andre Russell in the middle. It was at this stage that Faf du Plessis used his trump card. Harshal Patel, last season's purple cap winner and RCB's death bowling specialist, was brought on an he started creating problems for Russell immediately.
Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum on Wednesday revealed that Andre Russell wasn't 100 per cent fit towards the end of the IPL 2022 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the 12th over, KKR all-rounder Russell dived on the boundary and suffered some problem with his bowling shoulder. Consequently, Venkatesh had to bowl one of his overs at the death. "Dre had run around the boundary and dived, and unfortunately picked up a little bit of a bump. His shoulder was a little bit sore. But Dre being Dre, he still wants to try to get the job done, and he wasn't quite able to. Those are things which happen in low-scoring games," McCullum said in the post-match press conference.
Harshal Patel had a brilliant outing as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by three wickets on Wednesday to register their first win of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The seamer bowled brilliantly for his figures of 2/11 and also hit an unbeaten 10 off six deliveries to help RCB complete a tricky chase at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Having had a breakthrough season last year when he equalled Dwayne Bravo's record of most wickets in an IPL season, Harshal joined another elite list with his performance on Wednesday.
