MILAN : DAZN and Sky will keep the rights to screen live Serie A matches in Italy for the next five seasons after Italian clubs on Monday approved bids worth at least 4.5 billion euros ($4.8 billion), league officials said.

MILAN : Italy's top flight soccer clubs on Monday approved bids worth at least 4.5 billion euros ($4.8 billion) from DAZN and Sky for the rights to screen Serie A matches for the next five seasons in Italy, league officials said.
The Premier League is aiming to smash its own record domestic television rights deal after making 70 more matches available for broadcast from 2025. Currently, 200 matches per season are sold to broadcasters in the UK with the three-year deal that runs until the 2024/25 season worth a reported 4.8 billion pounds ($5.8 billion). A Saturday afternoon blackout, designed to protect attendances in the lower leagues, will remain. However, matches switched to Sundays due to the involvement of clubs in European fixtures will be broadcast live for the first time.
MILAN : Serie A representatives will meet on Monday to discuss whether to back TV rights deals worth 4.5 billion euros ($4.8 billion) over five years or bet big on plans to set up their own media platform to distribute soccer matches, league and club officials said.
