IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals' charge stuns Kolkata Knight Riders

Delhi Capitals' (DC) openers that literally ended the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) challenge at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Prithvi Shaw and David Warner made a mockery of the strong KKR bowling unit after Shreyas Iyer won the toss and put the rivals in to bat. For the first time this season, KKR failed to get early breakthroughs as the Shaw-Warner duo stitched together a 93-run opening-wicket stand. Although KKR did pull things back a bit in the middle overs, Shardul Thakur (29* off 11 balls) and Axar Patel (22* off 14 balls) added 49 runs off just 3.2 overs in the end to help DC put up 215 for 5, the highest total in this IPL so far.

Openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner's fearless batting laid the foundation as Delhi Capitals out-batted Kolkata Knight Riders by 44 runs to notch up their second win in the IPL, on Sunday. On a batting belter, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer's decision to put Delhi Capitals in backfired as they piled up 215 for five riding on half-centuries from Shaw (51 off 29 balls) and Warner (61 off 45 balls). In reply, KKR were all-out for 171 in 19.4 overs and it was left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav's evening at the Brabourne Stadium as he exacted sweet revenge against a franchise that didn't treat him too well during his stint as his career came to a halt.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Delhi Capitals highlights: DC return to winning ways by out-batting KKR as Kuldeep exacts sweet revenge

Prithvi Shaw and David Warner's fearless batting laid the foundation as Delhi Capitals out-batted Kolkata Knight Riders by 44 runs to notch up their second win in the IPL here on Sunday. As it happened | Scorecard | Points TableThe scoreboard pressure was always telling and Kuldeep's (4/35 in 4 overs), who is proving to be an asset for Capitals, decisively swung the match in the Rishabh Pant-led side's favour, getting opposition skipper Shreyas Iyer (54 off 33 balls) stumped with a left-arm wrist spinner's googly. Iyer had no clue as he came down the track and the ball turned away after pitching. Pat Cummins didn't play any manic knock as a Kuldeep leg-break ended his stay and then he took a magnificent skier off his own bowling to cap off a superb evening under lights.

IPL 2022, DC vs KKR: Task cut out for Delhi Capitals to stop rampaging Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders look the most well-balanced team. The Shreyas Iyer-led side is firing as a unit having all its bases covered. They will once again start as favourites against Delhi Capitals, who have performed below potential so far, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. While KKR have lost only one of their four matches so far, DC managed to win just one after playing three. It must be heartening for the DC team management to see Prithvi Shaw getting runs in the last match against Lucknow Super Giants. Against a man-inform Umesh Yadav, who is regularly providing KKR early breakthroughs, the team will look for another good start from the 2018 U-19 World Cup-winning captain Shaw who got 479 runs in 15 matches in last IPL.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) face Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 19 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Sunday. KKR have been in fine form this season, winning three of their four games, and are currently top of the points table. DC, on the other hand, have lost their last two games after starting their season on a high against Mumbai Indians. KKR are likely to retain the same team while DC might look to reshuffle in order to bounce back to winning ways.
