The under-construction international cricket stadium at Narsingarh in Tripura could become Kolkata Knight Riders' second home ground for the 2025 IPL season since the iconic Eden Garden in Kolkata is set for a massive makeover next year, a Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) official said on Friday. The construction at the international stadium at Narsingarh began way back in 2017 with an estimated cost of Rs. 185 crore but the stadium is not yet ready. "IPL chairman Arun Kumar Dhumal recently visited the proposed international stadium at Narsingarh on the outskirts of the state capital. He said if the stadium's is ready before February next year, it could be made second home ground of KKR or some else other state will get the benefit," TCA secretary Subarta Dey told PTI.
Venky Mysore, the CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), admitted that it was a very challenging task for them to trim the retentions down to six ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction after winning the previous season. KKR have made their top retention pick in middle-order batter Rinku Singh (INR 13 crore) followed by Andre Russell (INR 12 crore), Sunil Narine (INR 12 crore), Varun Chakaravarthy (INR 12 crore), and uncapped duo of Harshit Rana (INR 4 crore), and Ramandeep Singh (INR 4 crore).
IPL 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders have announced their retentions for the upcoming mega auctions. KKR put an end to rumours, keeping hold of star West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell. However, IPL 2024-winning captain Shreyas Iyer was not retained by KKR. As per BCCI's rule, all the ten franchises were asked to submit the final list of their retained players by Thursday, October 31. KKR are one of only two franchises who have retained all six players before the mega auction, meaning they will have no Right to Match (RTM) cards.
MotoGP riders on Thursday said it would be unethical to stage the season's final race in Valencia, with six-times champion Marc Marquez saying funds needed to go to people devastated by floods instead of being spent on repairs for the event.
There has been a lot of chatter over Shreyas Iyer and his future with Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2025 retentions. KKR clinched the IPL 2024 title under Shreyas' captaincy but several media reports have claimed that there has not been any communication between the player and the franchise regarding the future. However, Times of India has reported that KKR finally held talks with Shreyas over the future but it also claimed that the franchise is not considering the India batter as their top retention pick.
Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Retentions, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh said that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face difficulties to leave or retain players. KKR lifted their third title under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer after thumping Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Star Sports, Harbhajan praised the Kolkata-based franchise and said that they dominated the previous season. The former cricketer also named the players who should be retained for the upcoming season of the T20 tournament.
