Indian chess player Vaishali Rameshbabu, sister of chess prodigy R Praggnanandhaa, on Saturday became India's third female Grandmaster by surpassing 2500 rating during the 2023 IV Elllobregat Open on Saturday. With this achievement, Vaishali and her younger brother have become the first-ever Grandmaster siblings pair in history. She has also joined the likes of legendary Vishwanathan Anand, Koneru Humpy, Harika Dronavalli, Dibyendu Barua, R Praggnanandhaa etc. To celebrate this joyous moment, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin congratulated the duo on their achievement.

Chopra is another young Grandmaster who hails from Delhi and is trying to make a mark in international circuit. The Indian men's and women's chess teams won silver medals at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Saturday. GM Harika Dronavalli, IM Vaishali Rameshbabu, IM Vantika Agrawal, and WGM Savitha Shri Baskar all won their games in a dominating fashion to beat South Korea 4-0 in the final round to finish with 15 match points. Asian Games, Chess: Indian Men's, Women's Teams Breeze Past Opponents In Round 3

Indian men's and women's teams produced a fine effort to register easy wins over their rivals in the third round of the chess competition at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Sunday. The top-seeded men's team comprising GMs D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi and P Harikrishna beat Kazakhstan 3-1. The women's side, which is seeded second here, crushed Indonesia 3.5-0.5 for a third straight win. The India No.1 D Gukesh scored his first win of the event, beating GM Rinat Jumabayev.
