Chasing an elusive international hundred for 28 months now, Virat Kohli would hope for a turnaround at his 'spiritual home' when India take on an under-prepared and injury-hit Sri Lanka in the second Test, with the action unfolding under flood lights, in Bengaluru from Saturday. Interestingly, the last time Kohli reached a three-figure mark, it was a 'Pink Ball' game in which India thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in Kolkata, back in November 2019. He had scored 136 back then. The former India skipper has taken strike in 28 innings since then but a Test hundred has remained elusive. The 33-year-old has got a 50-plus score only six times with highest being a knock of 79 against South Africa in Cape Town in January this year.

Bumrah, who has played two of the three pink-ball contests, said, "We are playing the pink-ball Test after a long time. We are still very new to this format, we need to make a lot of mental adjustments. Whatever we have played, they were all in different conditions, so no parameter can be set. Whatever little experience you have gathered and the feedback you have taken, you work on things that are under your control."

Chinnaswamy stadium, it was the first time that this variant of SG balls was being used at the venue. Preparations for the first Day/Night Test match here, only the third in India, were on in full swing as the home team, which came in after Sri Lanka finished their afternoon session, hit the ground running.
India will be strong favourites to stay unbeaten in pink-ball Tests at home as new captain Rohit Sharma eyes a clean sweep of Sri Lanka in the second Test starting Saturday. The hosts thrashed Sri Lanka inside three days in Mohali to lead the two-match series 1-0 and the visitors need to quickly get their act together under the lights in Bangalore. The world's top-ranked all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja hit an unbeaten 175 and took nine wickets to stand out in Rohit's first Test since replacing Virat Kohli as captain in all formats earlier this year. "Rohit, we all know how tactically strong he is and how good he is. But I saw a lot of human elements in the way he led the side," off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said this week.
