Kathuniya, who won the silver medal in the F56 category at the World Para-Athletics Championships in May, recorded the season's best throw of 42.22m to take the silver medal in the Men's Discus Throw - F56 event at the recently concluded Paris Paralympics. The Prime Minister met India's Paralympians at his residence on Thursday to congratulate them for their record-smashing haul of 29 medals at the Paris Paralympic Games and asked para-athletes to share their Paralympic experiences.

The Indian prime minister even teased Navdeep when the latter introduced himself, saying he is the person whose reel went viral the most, alongside Sheetal Devi.

Paralympics bronze medallist Hokato Hotozhe Sema on Tuesday said he learned to walk again like a new-born baby after losing his left leg in a landmine explosion in 2002. That landmine blast during an anti-terrorist operation in Jammu & Kashmir's Chowkibal claimed his left leg below the knee, inflicting immense physical pain and mental trauma. "I was mentally disturbed and in deep depression (after my leg amputation). I never thought I would be like this. I asked myself how I would walk because I don't have one leg," Sema told PTI on the sidelines of a felicitation function in the capital.

Huge Cash Prize For Paralympics Medallists: Bronze Winners To Get Rs 30 Lakh, Silver And Gold Winners...

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday announced cash awards of Rs 75 lakh to the gold medallists, Rs 50 lakh for the silver winners and Rs 30 lakh for the Indian athletes who have won bronze in the just-concluded Paralympic Games in Paris. Those excelling in mixed teams events, like archer Sheetal Devi, will get richer by Rs 22.5 lakh. The minister announced this during an event organised to felicitate the medallists at the mega-event.
