Mohammad Rizwan and Steve Smith shared a light-hearted moment during the ongoing second Test match between Australia and Pakistan at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday. The incident took place in the 71st over when Pakistan in a dilemma on whether to use the DRS against Steve Smith. Smith was batting on 54 at the time. With the timer running out, Rizwan put his arms around Smith, and asked if his side should go for the DRS. Eventually, the hosts didn't go for it and Smith was finally dismissed in the 86th over after registering 72 runs off 214 balls.

Opener Usman Khawaja raced to a first Test century in the country of his birth on Saturday as Australia ended the opening day of the second Test against Pakistan on a commanding 251-3 in Karachi. The 35-year-old has made the most of a recall to the national side, missing out on a hundred in the first Test at Rawalpindi by three runs after scoring centuries in both innings in his return match against England. His unbeaten 127 included 13 boundaries and a six with Steve Smith (72) providing support at the other end until he fell to a sharp Hasan Ali delivery with seven balls left in the day.

Zaheer Abbas, Pakistan's batting great from yesteryears was on Saturday inducted in Pakistan Cricket Board's Hall Of Fame. 74-year-old Abbas made his Test debut in 1969 and played his first one-day international in 1974. The right-handed middle-order batter scored 5062 runs in 78 Test matches at an average of nearly 45. He also scored 2572 runs in 62 ODIs at an average of 47.62. Abbas was part of the Pakistan team that reached the semi-final of the 1979 World Cup.

Since Pat Cummins announced Australia's playing XI for the Karachi Test, many have taken to social media to congratulate Swepson, among them was Australian superstar Steve Smith.

Pakistan vs Australia, 1st Test: ICC Rates Rawalpindi Pitch As "Below Average"

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday rated the pitch at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi that was used for the first Test between Pakistan and Australia as "below average". Due to this rating, the venue has received one demerit point under the ICC Pitch and Outfield Monitoring Process. "The character of the pitch hardly changed over the course of five days and that there has been no deterioration apart from the bounce getting slightly lower. The pitch did not have a great deal of pace and bounce in it for the seamers nor assisted the spinners as the match progressed," Ranjan Madugalle of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees stated in an official statement.
